Adolescent Mental Health Counseling
School, friends, social media, extracurricular activities, college or no college, dating, working… no wonder teens seems to be under more pressure now than ever before. There seems to be so many more expectations, things to do and it is all moving at a rapid pace, much faster than it did even a generation ago.
There are a multitude of articles and books coming out discussing the rise of anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts in teens. Not only are they balancing all of these expectations, adolescence is a time of self-exploration and finding independence while also needing safe adults to lean on. It can be confusing, overwhelming and isolating.
But teens do not have to walk it alone. And to their credit they recognize the support counseling offers and with that they are simultaneously reducing the stigma of getting help. Counseling can offer a place to express anything about themselves while finding ways to manage and cope in a judgement free space. It can be a place to explore who they are and who they want to become. And sometimes they need to do that with a unbiased person outside of their daily world, and that is completely normal.
I have many years experience working and support youth in the age range. I encourage you to reach out to me if you have a teen in your life that could benefit for this support.
